British Columbia’s North Coast is in our sights. Most of our gear is already in the mail. Yea, I said “mail”. Long story. I’ll save it for the race report. But essentially, when traveling to a remote location, don’t count on getting 200lbs of your own gear (ie, enough to fill out an REI garage sale) on a small prop plane (along with 22 other teams of 4!). People take priority and baggage does not. DHL was here to save the day! Oh and plan on being much lighter in the wallet. Ugg!
We’ve just learned most of the race will now be on the Queen Charlotte Islands. This is BIG change to the race plans (due to the crazy Spring conditions in Rupert’s coastal mountains and rivers). These islands will make for an EPIC experience. Among sooo many other awesome things, the indigenous people there date back as far as recorded time. Seriously!
We take flight for Rupert on Thursday morning. More to come then. And stay tuned for regular blog updates leading up to and following the race. BTW, it starts on Sunday and ends Saturday, June 30.
Bring it.

I hope you finish early enough to catch a few salmon. Have a blast up there. There’s no way this course has been thoroughly pre-run so nav carefully. I’ll be jealous back home while you are up there kickin’ ass.

Race fast and have a BLAST! That terrain will be spectacular. I’ll be watching you 4 through the site. Say hello to Mike Chastaine. Make sure he gets his daily ration of pepperoni pizza and make him drink water. He thinks he’s a camel.
